This installation has been created with image memories collected from Singapore residents about their experiences during the pandemic through an ongoing open call. In Singapore, during Covid restrictions, the things that marked our days vanished, and time took on a flat, seamless quality. Giving shape to time and creating movement in our physically static life became a conscious endeavor. People were asked to share an image of one such memory that helped them create an illusion of movement or escape. The installation invites the viewer to engage with the diverse stories and memories framed by a common ethos of a shared geography. Some stories of migrant workers have been taken, with permission, from videos that were shared by them with the non-profit organisation TWC2 during Covid lockdowns, in Singapore.
