Project Description

Details

Cut-out surfaces in my works are like filters of perception to me. The porosity of the surfaces is tied to the idea of origins of information being filtered through various apparatus as it passes through the ever-changing reality of human subjectivity. Every individual has built-in filters to focus or block out elements that change the way the same information has been perceived by another. I view my works from the series Fragments & Echo as one of the many layers of filters that holds trace or fragmented memories of a time and space. The traces of newsprint on the cut-out patterned surface suggests that residual fragmented memory. Formally, these cut-out surfaces seek to open a space for the viewers for their own perception and observation within their space and time.
